Thursday’s Main event was lunch with my girls. And by lunch, I mean a 4 hour interlude featuring talking, drinking, and eating, in that order.

Ingredients:

Good company: coots, shane, and wendy g!

Fabulous venue: Delicatessen is absolutely my favorite NYC restaurant. It has the open indoor-outdoor setup and a beautiful interior. More importantly, the service was awesome – they were 100% on board with the fact that we wanted to camp long term in our happy sanctuary with constant drinks and occasional food. It is always a sign of a good time when the waitress has to close out your tab because her shift is over….and you keep ordering drinks!

Delicious food: tuna tartare, risotto croquettes, chicken soup, and truffle chicken salad, among other treats. You have to check out their menu, it is THE BOMB

Non-stop talk: we seriously did not STFU for the entire 4 hours we were at Delicatessen. What a good catch up sesh. I could do it again tomorrow.

Flexible schedules: What would an afternoon in NYC be without my peeps skipping their buses and trains to extend the visit just a little longer? Thanks girls!! (that part REALLY made me miss kimmers and jersey girl. You know those 2 would have been skipping trains and flights all day long!!)

After we left the classy grownup atmosphere of the Cooper Hotel, it was time to get our swerve on. And swerve we did. Here are the ingredients for yo Bitch’s ideal bday after party: 

Good Hood: I always marvel that MSMN and wendy g & jorge live like 2 blocks apart…favorite people in my favorite place!! Viva la West Village!

Good BarS:

• First stop was Barrow Street Pub, which may now hold the distinction of being our 2nd favorite NYC bar. After Johnny’s, of course.
• Henrietta Hudson: When Barrows Pub unceremoniously closed up shop at 2:30, we were on a MISSION to find the next bar. Undeterred by the giant upside down triangle on the wall outside, we marched our asses right into Spanish music night at a fabulous lezzy bar. (Bouncer: y’all know this is like, a lesbian bar, right? Me: GOODIE!!) Margaritas all around!!
• But who were we kidding? By 3 a.m. we were lezzied out and knew that we had a hurtin’ only Johnny’s could cure. FYI they actually have a male bartender who works there during the week, and he is awesome. According to the DSI I did on my cell phone Thursday morning, he allowed us to hang out at Johnny’s til at least 5:19 a.m.

Good tunes: We were able to take over the jukebox at Barrows, and then rode a wave of Johnny’s tunes until the late night Death Metal came on. Bring it on!! 

Special drinks: I was on a RARE cider kick, along with several unnecessary shots at Johnny’s. And the margarita’s at HH. No wonder the wheels came off!!

New friends: when the working folks had to go to bed at a reasonable hour, we picked up some temp friends. The sort of friends you only ever meet at Johnny’s or Barrows. They hung in pretty well, for 23 year olds.

Late night snack: Y’all know what it was. On my bday and any other night in NYC, on my way home I get an egg salad sandwich on white toast with tomato, mayo, and onion. Here it is:

Shout out from the West Coast: I love that Carlos called all 4 of my contact numbers to be sure he got to me as soon as it was my bday on the East Coast. Thanks Brother!!

You know the Bitch is not going to limit her birthday celebration to 1 day! Here are the ingredients for making a delicious birthday for yo bitch, part 1:

Best city in the world: Shane & I kicked off birthday week in NYC. I had not done my bday in NYC since I turned 21!! This is now a requirement!!

Fabulous venue: Wendy G assembled a fantastic group of guests at Table 8, the restaurant inside the Cooper Hotel. A hip NYC locale with good surroundings and people watching. Plus the food was delicious and the service was good. We had quail and duck and kumquats and rabbit sausage and other yummy stuff.

Celebrity sighting: I saw Fisher Stevens on the way into Table 8!! (He was just walking by on the street). It seems that everyone I mention this to wants to refute my claim that Fisher Stevens is an actual celebrity, but anyone who has had 4 appearances on 2 Law & Orders and a turn on Homicide is a megastar in my book!!

Double dessert: when it is your birfday, you can order as many desserts as you want!! We had apricot tart AND chocolate cake…
